The Welsh Government must take action to improve the road condition of the A48 from Culverhouse Cross to Bridgend, South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies has said.
The road, running through the Vale of Glamorgan, has recently seen several accidents, with some road users suffering serious injuries.
Mr Davies raised the issue in the Senedd on Tuesday 7th March, pointing out that the road surface is in extremely poor condition, with several deep potholes.
As a trunk road, maintenance of the stretch is the responsibility of the Welsh Government, and Mr Davies has called for greater safety measures to be introduced as a priority.
Mr Davies said, “In the past few weeks, severe weather conditions have seen a number of serious accidents on the A48 in the Vale, and it is clear that action must be taken to improve the road condition.
“There are currently many deep potholes along the route, and this puts road users’ safety at risk.
“As a trunk road, improving the rad condition is the responsibility of the Welsh Government, and they must take urgent steps to improve things before a fatality occurs.”
