Rehabilitation services "essential" to end alcohol and drug dependency

Providing good quality rehabilitation services is crucial to help people overcome alcohol and drug dependencies, Welsh Conservative Leader Andrew RT Davies has said.


Along with Bridgend councillor and former AM Altaf Hussain – Mr Davies recently visited Brynawel House rehabilitation centre in Bridgend – to meet with Chief Executive David Richards.


Brynawel is the only residential rehabilitation centre in Wales which has Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Social Learning at the core of its treatment programme – with a firm believe that given the right support anyone can overcome alcohol and drug dependencies.


Praising Brynawel for the help it provides people to overcome addiction – Mr Davies said it was vital rehabilitation centres were given the support they need assist people in future. 


Mr Davies said, “It was really beneficial to visit Brynawel – and learn more about the important work they do to help people overcome alcohol and drug dependency.


“They have a positive vision that anyone can overcome addiction with the right support – and that shows why it is crucial people get it. 


“I’d like to thank David for taking the time to show me around – and explaining how Brynawel operates. Good quality rehabilitation services are essential to help people affected by alcohol and drug dependency – and it is vital they are given the support they need.”
