On Friday, Andrew RT Davies visited Little Inspirations Children’s Nursery in Barry to meet award-winning owner Jenine Gill.
Jenine had wanted to work with children since the age of 10 and opened her first nursery in her twenties. She has recently been awarded Welsh Vocational Employer of the Year for the training opportunities she provides, and Andrew wanted to congratulate her and see how the nursery operates.
During the visit, Andrew spoke with staff members Michelle, Gina and Kayleigh, who told him about the opportunities Jenine has given them. These included the qualifications they have received, that have enabled previous employees to go on and have successful careers in a variety of areas including teaching.
Andrew also met some of the 16 children who attend the nursery, joining them for ‘snack time’ as they had healthy treats including pineapple and melon. He then joined them in the nursery’s outdoor play area, as they enjoyed themselves in the play house and pumpkin patch.
Andrew said, “It was a pleasure to visit Little Inspirations and see the fantastic work Jenine has done. I wrote to her to congratulate her on her award and I was delighted she invited me to visit.
“Kayleigh, Gina and Michelle were all full of praise for her, explaining that working at Little Inspirations has been great for their career development. Jenine is a proactive and energetic person who cares deeply about the community and the nursery is going from strength to strength.
“It was fantastic to join the children for snack time and to see all the fun they get up to at the nursery. It is an excellent facility that is a real asset to Barry. It may be called Little Inspirations but Jenine is the big inspiration behind it all!”
