South Wales Central AM, Andrew RT Davies, has welcomed British Gas’ announcement that it’s to cut household gas bills by 5 per cent.
The price reduction, which will come into effect on 27th August, will benefit almost seven million customers on the Standard and Fix and Fall tariffs with the average energy bill dropping by 35 pound as a result. This follows a similar cut by the firm in January.
Andrew RT Davies AM, said:
“With the winter months edging ever closer, this is welcome news for British Gas customers. It is only right that energy suppliers should pass on lower costs to their customers when there is a fall in the price of wholesale gas and I am pleased that British Gas have chose to do so twice this calendar year.
“In a competitive market, it is good that companies such as British Gas deliver pricing that will ensure customers across Wales keep their bills as low as possible and I look forward to other energy suppliers following suit.
“And while this is clearly a step in the right direction, the Welsh Conservatives will continue to campaign for energy firms right across the sector to pass on falls in wholesale prices to customers.”
