Cardiff and East Glamorgan Girlguides receive their Baden Powell Awards

Members of Cardiff and East Glamorgan Girlguides were presented with their Baden Powell Awards last week – at a ceremony held at the National Assembly for Wales.

Some 80 members from across Cardiff and the Vale were present – from the four divisions of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section.

The event – which took place at the Pierhead Building – was sponsored by South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies – who also presented the awards.

Mr Davies said, “It was a pleasure to sponsor the event – and present the members with their well-deserved awards.

“Girlguiding UK has now been running for over 100 years – after being established by Robert Baden Powell in 1910.

“It is very apt for the awards to be named after him – and I’d like to offer all of the girls my warmest congratulations and wish them all the best for the future.”
