Regional Assembly member and St Hilary resident, Andrew RT Davies, has paid tribute to Alun Cairns following his re-election on May 7th.
Turnout was up by almost 2% on the previous vote in 2010, and Mr Davies paid tribute to the “positive, passionate” spirit in which the campaign was fought by all sides.
“Alun’s increased majority was a reward for the hard work which he has undertaken on behalf of his constituents here in the Vale; championing the regeneration of Barry, opposing Labour’s cuts to public transport, and fighting to keep local libraries open.
“However, each of the candidates deserve credit for running positive, passionate campaigns and for ensuring that turnout was up on 2010.
“I look forward to continuing to work with my friend and colleague Alun Cairns. The people of the Vale deserve a tireless champion for their cause and I know that Alun will continue to be that voice in Westminster.”
