South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies has joined local residents in expressing concerns over the incinerator at Barry Docks.
Mr Davies, who opposed the planning application for the plant, met with residents on Dock View Road last week to discuss the impact it will have.
Many people are concerned by the proximity of the site to houses across Barry – and any fumes that will come from it.
Mr Davies said he understood their frustrations, and will make representations to Natural Resources Wales.
Mr Davies said, “Like many local residents, I am deeply concerned by the prospect of an incinerator being built so close to houses, and that is why I opposed the initial planning application.
“Sadly, permission to build the plant was granted, but that does not mean the fight has stopped.
“It was good to meet local residents and discuss their concerns about the incinerator.
“They are rightly worried about fumes and pollution, and I will continue to work with them.
“I will make further representations to Natural Resources Wales and I urge any residents with concerns to get in touch with me so I can bring these forward.”
