South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies last week visited Barry Power Station – following operator Centrica’s decision to decommission the plant.
Mr Davies visited the station on Friday 4th May – to meet with Centrica Distributed Power Systems Director Mark Futyan.
At the meeting – they discussed the work Centrica are doing to find alternative employment for the 19 staff at the site – as well as the plant’s long term future.
Mr Davies was also given a tour of the control room – where he met plant engineers Kevin Cousins and Neil Pankhurst.
Mr Davies said, “Following the decision to close the power station – it is vital we do all we can to find alternative work for the 19 workers at the plant.
“I’m therefore grateful to Mark for taking the time to meet – and explain the reasons behind the closure.
“It was also good to have the chance to visit the control room and meet some of the team – who took time out of their busy schedules to explain how it all works.”
