Residents’ concerns about a notorious junction between Gwaunmiskin Road and Llantrisant Road in Beddau must be dealt with, South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies has said.
Mr Davies recently visited the junction – known locally as “Beddau Halt” – along with Llantrisant community councillor Sam Trask, who has been raising the issue for some time.
The junction has been the scene of several multi-vehicle accidents in recent months – as a direct result of the road layout.
A second stage application was previous made to the Welsh Government for funding to make the improvements – but this was turned down – despite previous indications that it would be made available.
Mr Davies said, “Having visited Beddau Halt for myself – it’s clear there are safety issues – and it is vital action is taken before there is a more serious accident occurs.
“It is disappointing that the Welsh Government have rejected the funding application – and so I have written to the Cabinet Secretary asking why this is the case. Residents will be particularly annoyed given the fact it was previously indicated the money would be forthcoming.
“Sam and I are calling on him to reverse this decision and deal with the situation before it’s too late.”
